As Director of Structural Analysis, Mr. Boyadjis has over 40 years of diverse experience in the analysis and design of rotating equipment. Mr. Boyadjis’ special expertise includes finite element analysis (FEA), vibration analysis, stress analysis, field failure investigations, and rotordynamics. He has worked as a lead analytical engineer for major compressor and pump manufacturers such as Ingersoll-Rand, Ingersoll-Dresser Pump, and Flowserve Corporation. At MSI, Mr. Boyadjis has conducted detailed 3-D finite element analysis of new as well as prematurely failed casings and impellers, resulting in design enhancements for customers. His specialty is complex 3-D solids modeling of pump and compressor casings for stress and vibration analysis using advanced finite element techniques.
Through Mechanical Solutions, Inc., he is an active member of the Hydraulic Institute participating as vice chair of the vibration standard committee HI 9.6.4 and was instrumental in the development of HI 9.6.8- Guidelines for Dynamics of Pumping Machinery. He is also co-chair of the newly formed HI 9.7.4 -Guideline for Vibration Troubleshooting and Corrective Actions. He also is a contributing committee member of API 610 Standard for pumping equipment. He has provided static and dynamic analysis support for many pumping stations in the design stage, pre-installation pump system analyses, and troubleshooting problems in the field. Notably, he oversaw the design and analysis of the 17th Street and London Avenue Canals permanent pumping stations in New Orleans, Louisiana, by providing structural and thermal stress analysis simulations and vibration predictions of the final selected pumps and permanent support structures. He has also brought new insights to the modeling of vertical pumps, and this, coupled with MSI’s expert field vibration testing capability, makes MSI an unquestioned leader in the stress and vibration evaluation of these types of pumps. He and those who work under his guidance continue to expand on their analysis techniques to provide customers with the best vibration and stress prediction capabilities possible. Mr. Boyadjis holds BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University, where he graduated summa cum laude.
MSI consultants solve difficult or urgent problems of vibration in machinery, taking into account the performance process parameters in critical rotating machinery and systems. MSI’s right-first-time, high-value solutions and clear reports are based on a 30-year track record of reliably solving the problem.
