Maki M. Onari

Mr. Onari brings nearly three decades of expertise in turbomachinery testing and rotating machinery to his role as President of Mechanical Solutions, Inc. (MSI), where he oversees all aspects of company operations and client solutions.  A mechanical engineering graduate of Zulia University, Mr. Onari’s career has been marked by significant contributions to the field of machinery vibration and reliability engineering.

Before joining MSI, Mr. Onari was a Rotating Machinery Engineer at Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) El Tablazo, Venezuela’s largest petrochemical complex. There, he led the analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of rotating machinery, addressing complex mechanical issues through an advanced understanding of vibration dynamics, tribology, and process operating data. His extensive field testing experience includes expertise in instrumentation, data acquisition, and dynamic data analysis.

Mr. Onari’s comprehensive knowledge spans the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of large-scale equipment such as steam turbines, gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, and pumps.  He has received specialized training in equipment operation from leading manufacturers, including Solar Turbines, Hitachi, and Bently Nevada, and is experienced in machinery specification, vendor coordination, witness acceptance testing, and commissioning.

Mr. Onari’s influence extends beyond MSI; he is an active thought leader and contributor to industry standards. He serves on the Pump Advisory Committee for the Texas A&M Turbomachinery and Pump Symposia, co-authored the Pump Vibration chapter in the McGraw-Hill Pump Handbook, and represents the U.S. on the ISO 108 S2 Machinery Vibration Standard Committee.  He is also a member of the Hydraulic Institute’s Vibration Standards and Condition Monitoring Committee, working to advance best practices in machinery health and performance.

Fluent in English, Spanish, and Japanese, Mr. Onari is also a sought-after speaker, lecturing at the prestigious Texas A&M Turbomachinery and Pump Symposia.  His global perspective, technical expertise, and dedication to advancing industry standards make him an invaluable asset to MSI and its clients.
