Maki M. Onari

Maki

As President, Mr. Onari has extensive experience in resolving rotating machinery problems. He used to be a reliability engineer too, so intimately understands and appreciates the issues our clients are dealing with. His special expertise includes field testing and associated capabilities in instrumentation, data acquisition and analysis equipment, and analysis of vibration and other dynamic machinery data. Prior to joining MSI, Mr. Onari worked for eight years for PDVSA El Tablazo, one of the largest petrochemical complexes in Venezuela, where he performed analysis, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and failure studies on a wide variety of rotating machines, combining data on their dynamic conditions, tribological information, and process operating data in order to develop fundamental understanding and solutions to mechanical problems. Mr. Onari is very experienced in the assembly, disassembly, installation, and maintenance of large equipment such as steam turbines, gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, pumps, generators, motors, centrifugal dryers, and fans. He has been through extensive training programs in the operation and maintenance of many types of equipment of specific manufacturers, including Solar Gas Turbines, Geon PVC Plants, Hitachi AOTS, Entek IRD Vibration Equipment, John Crane Mechanical Seals, and Bently Nevada Balance and Alignment Equipment and Software. As part of these efforts, he acquired significant test stand and field testing experience, as well as involvement in machinery specification, vendor selection/coordination, witness acceptance tests, and machinery commissioning. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Zulia University in Venezuela. He has lectured at the Texas A&M turbomachinery and pump symposia. In addition to English, Mr. Onari is fluent in both Spanish and Japanese.
