Juan D. Gamarra Project Engineer
Mr. Gamarra has a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology where he graduated with honors, and
where he is currently attending after hours to obtain an MSME. Juan has acquired a strong background in solid modeling using SolidWorks and Pro/Engineer.
Prior experience includes work at J&J Ethicon, where he assisted in product development and testing of surgical instruments, and Hamilton Sundstrand
where he assisted in the design and implementation of a water producing system for Humvees.
Juan has strong skills in the use of ANSYS CAE products such as Workbench, CFX, and ANSYS Multiphysics FEA, and with other 3D
finite element programs such as Pro/Mechanica. His FEA capabilities include evaluation of steady as well as transient thermal profiles and all types of
loading, and analytical modal analysis of natural frequencies and mode shapes of complex structures. Juan is leading MSI’s Internal Research & Development
(IRAD) efforts to quantify the effects of various types of component/ shaft fit-ups on rotating machinery shaft stiffness, and on lateral and torsional dynamics,
in support of MSI’s participation in the API, ISO, and HI/ANSI machinery standards committees.
